Reece James has spoken to Sky Sports about Mauricio Pochettino almost a week on from Chelsea officially announcing the Argentine’s arrival.

The South American was confirmed as the main man at Stamford Bridge on Monday 29th May.

Now – speaking live from the F1 – Reece James has commented on Mauricio Pochettino.

What’s the story?

Well, the £250,000-a-week Chelsea man shared what “everyone is saying” about the 51-year-old.

James told Sky Sports: “Yeah (I am looking forward to working with him). Everyone is saying he’s a great manager, and hopefully next season, we find our feet early and we’re a good, strong side.”

The Chelsea No.24 also commented on Mason Mount’s situation at Chelsea amid strong rumours that the England international will be leaving for Manchester United.

James added: “Of course (I’ll be sad if Mount leaves). If he goes, everyone will be sad to see him go.”

The Telegraph believe Chelsea’s No.19 has already agreed personal terms with Manchester United, so the Red Devils are now negotiating a transfer fee with the Blues.

However, there seems to be a huge gap in terms of valuation – the Daily Mail believe Chelsea want £85m for Mount, whereas Manchester United feel he is worth £55m.

Mauricio Pochettino could work wonders with Reece James

In our view, James could be the biggest beneficiary of Pochettino’s coaching at Cobham.

The Argentine has previously done great things with right-backs throughout his career, such as Kyle Walker and Achraf Hakimi.

Walker, in particular, developed from a fairly average right-back into one of Europe’s best under Pochettino, eventually earning a £50m move to Manchester City.

James and Walker are similar players, in the respect that both boast tremendous pace, strength and crossing ability down the right flank.

Therefore, Chelsea fans should be excited to see what Pochettino can do with the England international at Stamford Bridge.
