One Chelsea loanee has now seemingly lost his place in the starting side of his current club.

Current Real Madrid star Kepa Arrizabalaga has lost his place in the XI despite now being fully fit and ready to play.

Kepa had made the move to Spain after the La Liga side needed to sign a new number one following a serious injury to Thibaut Courtois.

The 29-year-old clearly didn’t fancy his chances at retaining the number one spot at Stamford Bridge, after they invested in two new goalkeepers over the summer.

That position has been occupied predominantly by Robert Sanchez recently, however his injury has seen the door swing wide open.

Djordje Petrovic looked composed on his debut against Sheffield United, and is now set for a run of games in the team to prove his worth.

Kepa dropped by Real Madrid

No matter how Kepa does for his current side, his future at Stamford Bridge is pretty much non-existent after he has hardly set the world alight in his time here.

His case won’t be getting any stronger though, with the news that he is now not the first choice goalkeeper at the Bernabeu.

An injury brought to an end a run of 10 consecutive starts for the Spain international in the league, although he has been named on the bench in recent weeks.

The next step of Kepa’s career currently looks unsure, with him clearly not having the quality to keep Courtois out of a regular starting role at Madrid.

This could see him look to move to another side at the end of this season, although Chelsea may see themselves have a rough time shifting him on.

As for them, there are currently no plans to sign a new goalkeeper despite links to Arsenal star and out of favour Aaron Ramsdale.
