Chelsea got their Premier League campaign up and running in some style at the weekend at Wolves.

The Blues won 6-2, with Enzo Maresca making history as the first manager to see his side score six in his first away game in charge.

A dominant victory saw a number of standout performances, with the second half a showcase of their strength in depth, particularly in attack.

Pedro Neto and Joao Felix combined off the bench for their final goal, as they look to prove to the boss that they should be in consideration for his strongest side.

The highlight performer was undoubtedly Noni Madueke though, who found the net three times in his first league start of the season.

Noni Madueke highest-rated performance in Europe this season

Madueke found himself named in the Team of the Week for his performance alongside Cole Palmer, however it looks as if his brilliance stretches even further than that.

According to WhoScored, the 9.83 rating he was given is actually the highest of any player in Europe’s top five leagues so far this season.

There had been talk in recent weeks that Madueke could be sold if the right offer came in, with Eddie Howe and Newcastle particularly big admirers of him.

Now though, his future looks to be at Stamford Bridge, and likely in the starting side for the foreseeable future while he is playing this well.

Mykhailo Mudryk fails to impress vs Wolves

Jamie O’Hara believes Chelsea have found their best attack, with Neto coming off the bench to replace the unimpressive Mykhailo Mudryk.

Madueke has not really been able to establish himself as a regular in the starting side since his £29m move in January 2023.

However, his most recent performance on top of a very strong pre-season campaign suggests that he is beginning to take his chance at Stamford Bridge, and could be on his way to becoming one of the first names on the teamsheet.
