One Chelsea player who missed the last Premier League game against Everton due to injury has now been spotted back in first team training.

The official 5th Stand App has shown Malo Gusto taking part with his teammates as they prepare for the return to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Gusto was not present in the matchday squad for the defeat at Goodison Park on Sunday due to injury, and that issue was added to by a plethora of new ones at the back at the weekend.

Reece James was forced off in the first off with a hamstring injury, with it now emerging that it is unfortunately another serious issue.

It has been reported that he is set for three months on the sideline, with one source even claiming it may be even longer before he’s back to his best.

He has been joined on the treatment table by Marc Cucurella and Robert Sanchez, who were also forced off due to their own issues.

Gusto back in training

With no James or Cucurella, many were left wondering who would be starting games at right-back in the coming weeks.

However, Gusto has now handed Mauricio Pochettino a real boost as he has taken part in training ahead of the visit of Sheffield United in a few days’ time.

Whether the Frenchman will be able to compete in that game or not is another question, however it does suggest that he is not far away from taking part.

After joining for £30m over the summer, he is likely to now play more of a role this season than he could have ever believed.

With James out for quite a while, it is a real opportunity to show he should be considered as the first choice option at Stamford Bridge further along the line.
