The January transfer window has now closed, and Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has a clear picture of the squad he will have at his disposal for the rest of the season.

Even when the Blues were taking part in Premier League action against West Ham on Monday, a few deals were still being finalised in the final hours of deadline day.

The biggest name to move on was Joao Felix. He made a late loan switch to AC Milan, with agent Jorge Mendes playing a key role in that deal going through.

Malo Gusto changes agents straight after January transfer window

It is clear how much of a role agents play in negotiations in the modern game, and who is representing players can be very important in getting moves.

While there was no talk of a January exit concerning Malo Gusto, it seems he is taking the next steps needed to protect his future should he need to.

According to Sebastien Denis, the defender has changed his agents, joining up with Wesserman for the foreseeable future.

Gusto joined the Blues for £30m and instantly became a crucial part of the first team due to the injury problems for Reece James.

The club captain has strung a few appearances in a row together now, as he looks to finally get over his long-term woes.

Who else do Wesserman represent?

Wesserman have a number of high-profile clients on their books. Federico Valverde and fellow Chelsea man Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have the same agents.

They also provide services for a number of managers, with one of them being current Chelsea boss Maresca.

The Italian’s contract at Stamford Bridge is until 2029, with the club showing far more ambition in him taking the project forward in comparison to Mauricio Pochettino, who was only offered a two year deal.

Chelsea will be hoping the situation is not the same as it was with Graham Potter, who they had to pay a hefty price for after deciding to sack him in his first season in West London.
