Fulham winger Willian has told The Times that his family will be supporting Chelsea when the two sides meet again tonight.

The Brazilian enjoyed a long and tenured career at Stamford Bridge, before moving on in 2020 in the face of a big transfer window for the Blues.

He faced his former club last month as part of a Fulham team that won 2-1 at Craven Cottage. The 34-year-old opened the scoring in the first half, and chose not to celebrate out of respect for the side he had a lot of good memories with.

The game as far as Chelsea are concerned was overshadowed by the chaotic debut of Joao Felix.

The Portugal international impressed greatly in his hour-long cameo, before it came to an end following a rash challenge in the second half.

The suspension will see him unavailable for the return fixture tonight.

Willian’s kids supporting Chelsea

This may be bad news for Willian’s family, with the player himself admitting that he found out before the first meeting that they would be backing Chelsea.

He said: “My family, my daughters, they love Chelsea, they support Chelsea. So before the game I asked: who are you going to support tomorrow?

“They said, ‘Chelsea!’ I said, ‘No, but Daddy plays for Fulham now’. They said, ‘We know, Daddy, you can play good, you can score but we are supporting Chelsea.’ It was funny.”

Willian will certainly be in contention to feature for Fulham tonight, with him establishing himself as an important member of their side.

There is excitement over who will be starting for the Blues however, with new signings Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke pushing to start for the first time for their new club.

There is also the good news of injured pair Reece James and Ben Chilwell being confirmed as part of the squad as their personal rehabilitations come close to being complete.
