Chelsea may now be without Romeo Lavia until December following the ankle injury the midfielder picked up in training.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea want to be cautious with Romeo Lavia and could delay his comeback until the final month of the year.

The Belgian joined the Blues from Southampton during the summer in a £58m deal, as reported by Sky Sports. However, he is yet to make his debut for his new club.

And it now looks like it may be a while before Chelsea supporters get to see him in the team’s colours.

The above means Lavia could miss some big games against the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

If Lavia cannot play this month or in November, then Mauricio Pochettino will have to continue to rely on Conor Gallagher to support Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Gallagher has actually impressed for Chelsea this season and has become quite an important player for Pochettino.

He has started in all eight of the Blues’ Premier League fixtures and has even captained the team.

According to WhoScored, the England international is currently making 3.1 tackles per game in the top flight, which is the highest average in his squad.

Perhaps, then, there really is no need to rush Lavia back from injury. Chelsea have had so many fitness problems this season. The last thing they want to do is start inflicting them on themselves by being too hasty.
