£65m midfielder believes ‘incredible’ Chelsea player can win the Ballon d’Or

Chelsea were unable to score in their Premier League opener against Manchester City, but the Blues still have a batch of talented attacking players.

That includes new signing Pedro Neto, who made his Chelsea debut in the 2-0 defeat to City, and Cole Palmer.

There is Mykhailo Mudryk as well, though the winger did not play against the Premier League champions and has struggled for consistency during his time at Chelsea.

He was constantly in and out of the team last season, making 18 starts and 13 substitute appearances in the English top flight. Nevertheless, Chelsea still believe Mudryk has a big future.

Georgiy Sudakov backs Mykhailo Mudryk to win Ballon d’Or one day

Despite Mudryk’s struggles at Chelsea, his Ukraine teammate Georgiy Sudakov believes he could actually win the Ballon d’Or in the future.

In an interview with The Guardian, the Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder said: “Mykhailo is an incredible player, he has no upper limit and he can win the Ballon d’Or with his qualities, but everything depends only on him.

“I believe he will be able to show his best qualities. Ukraine is an incredibly talented country and he is a great example for us to follow.”

Sudakov and Mudryk could get to play with each other at Chelsea one day. Going into this transfer window, Chelsea had an interest in Sudakov, so perhaps it is something that the Blues may revisit in the future.

Back in May, a report from the Daily Mail suggested that Shakhtar valued Sudakov at £65m, so he could end up being another big money signing for Chelsea if they decide to move for him next year.

Mykhailo Mudryk outlasts Raheem Sterling at Chelsea

Like Mudryk, Raheem Sterling has not been consistent enough at Chelsea. For example, he only managed to score six league goals in his first season at the club.

The Blues would have been expecting so much more from a £50m Premier League champion.

The same can be said of Mudryk, but it is Sterling who will be sacrificed following the arrivals of Neto and Joao Felix, rather than the Ukrainian.

Finances are partly why Chelsea want to offload Sterling, who earns huge money at Stamford Bridge. In fact, he is believed to be their highest earner alongside Romelu Lukaku.
