In the summer of 2023, Chelsea had a bit of a clear-out, selling the likes of Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

During their spells at Chelsea, there were a lot of good moments. For example, they all contributed to the club’s Champions League triumph in 2021.

However, there were some very bad moments as well, including multiple cup final losses. In 2019, Callum Hudson-Odoi also had to deal with a serious injury that kept him out for months.

The winger is no longer at Stamford Bridge after joining Nottingham Forest but has been speaking about that injury.

Callum Hudson-Odoi on most challenging moment in his career

Hudson-Odoi was recently asked about the biggest challenge he has faced as a footballer so far.

In response, the 23-year-old told Sky Sports: “I think the most challenging I would say is definitely rupturing my Achilles. I think obviously at a young age when you’re starting to play more and more football and get more and more minutes, I think it’s obviously very tough.

“I think without the people around you, it’s not easy to really recover from and understand what’s actually happening, so I had a lot of good people around me who helped me and pushed me daily to make sure that I’ll come back to be the player that I once was.”

Now at Forest, Hudson-Odoi felt he had no choice but to leave Chelsea in a bid to find happiness.

How is Callum Hudson-Odoi getting on at Nottingham Forest?

Hudson-Odoi is into his second season at Forest and will be pleased with how things are going there.

The England international recently scored a winning goal against league leaders Liverpool and netted eight times in the top flight last term.

The most important thing for him, though, is the fact that he is getting regular game time, which was not happening at Chelsea.

Since Hudson-Odoi joined Forest, where he earns £80,000 a week (via Spotrac), Chelsea have brought in other attackers like Jadon Sancho and Pedro Neto.

Like Hudson-Odoi, Sancho plays on the left and has done an excellent job there for Enzo Maresca‘s side since joining them on deadline day.

Sancho has recorded three assists in three games and also won a penalty in Chelsea’s 4-2 win against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.

If Hudson-Odoi was still at Stamford Bridge, he would probably not be starting ahead of the former Borussia Dortmund man right now. With Chelsea constantly bringing in new players to strengthen their squad, he made the correct decision leaving the club.
