Chelsea’s transfer business is likely to pick up again in January when the window opens again, and their scouts will have just been hugely impressed with what they saw from one of their key targets.
The Blues still spent big money over the summer, bringing in the likes of Joao Pedro, Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens, however they had to sell alongside this in order to stay in line after being sanctioned by UEFA.
Noni Madueke, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Joao Felix were amongst those who moved on for big money, as Chelsea made the most of any Premier League club ever in a single transfer window.
They were able to register their new signings in the squad for the Champions League, and now they will be looking back at players they were linked to over the summer, but were unable to bring in.

Chelsea target scores stunning goal as Blues scouts watch him in person
One name who fits that bill is Kenan Yildiz. Chelsea made contact with Juventus over the potential signing of the attacker throughout the summer transfer window.
He remained at the Serie A side, where he was on hand to score a stunning goal in their thrilling 4-3 win over Inter Milan.
Journalist Mark Brus has stated that Chelsea had scouts in attendance to watch the game, with him remaining firmly on their list of potential signings.
He said on ‘The Daily Briefing’ Substack: “As I told you earlier this week, Chelsea have attacking players on their list of top priorities for the months ahead, one of which is Juventus’ Kenan Yildiz.
“Well, I’ve just had it confirmed to me that Chelsea had scouts watching tonight as Yildiz scored this superb long-range effort as Juve beat Inter Milan.”

Yildiz’s electric start to the season
After impressing greatly throughout the 2024/25 campaign, Yildiz is off to a similar start in the new season too.
The Turkey international has a goal and three assists in his first three games this season, helping them to a perfect start to the season.
Chelsea fans wanted to sign Yildiz over the summer, however it remains to be seen whether he is still a priority based on their already completed business.
Garnacho and Gittens have come in as new wingers, as well as the highly-exciting youngster Estevao Willian.
