Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson has what it takes to become a big success story at Stamford Bridge.
That is according to former Blues player Kalidou Koulibaly.
It’s been a pretty turbulent start for Nicolas Jackson, 22, during his first season as a Chelsea player.
The young striker has been under pressure from day one to score plenty, largely because of losing Christopher Nkunku to injury.
He’s scored seven Premier League goals so far to make it a decent introduction to a new division, but the spotlight is firmly on him because he’s been guilty of missing some golden chances in front of goal as well.
Koulibaly, who only spent a year as a Chelsea player before leaving last summer, has delivered a very optimistic opinion on Jackson.
The 32-year-old defender knows the Blues youngster well because they play together at international level with Senegal.
He’s got faith that the Blues frontman can have a successful future in West London.
When discussing Jackson, Koulibaly told Sky Sports: “He has already scored seven goals which is a good start for him. Maybe people want more from him but they don’t have to forget that he’s a young player and it’s the first year for him in the Premier League. People need time…
“I think he has a good coach who can help him. Us in the national team, we give him a lot of advice, with Edouard Mendy. We know the club and the people. We know he will have a great future over there.”
Nicolas Jackson will have a great future
It’s fair to say the jury is still out on Jackson for most people, but the reality is it’s not been a bad start during his first six months in England. If he can tighten up his finishing, we could be looking at a seriously talented youngster because his all-round game looks pretty polished.
In our view, the £32million attacker (Evening Standard) looks most effective when he’s playing as a second striker just off of a central figure.
A study in CIES Football Observatory earlier this month recorded that Jackson is now valued at €84.9million (£73m). He’s worth more than the likes of Bayer Munich’s Leroy Sane, Manchester City’s Ruben Dias and Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.
