Danny Murphy believes Julian Nagelsmann would be too risky a choice for Chelsea in their search for a new manager.
According to an earlier report from journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea had been in contact with Nagelsmann over the vacant managerial spot at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are speaking to other candidates as well and have yet to make a decision, but the former Bayern Munich manager is widely considered to be the favourite.
Murphy, however, questioned whether the 35-year-old should be the leading candidate in the first place.

“He’s a super talented young coach, no doubt,” Murphy told talkSPORT when speaking about Nagelsmann.
“But all he’s done really are a third-place finish and got through to the Champions League semi-final with RB Leipzig — which is a success for a smaller club, punching above your weight, but still didn’t with anything — and won the [Bundesliga] title with Munich, which you and I would do [too].
“Where are these [talks of his being able] to walk into Real Madrid, Chelsea, and PSG overnight [come from]? Because he’s young?
“Highly thought of, but it’s a risk.”
Murphy also highlighted the rumours that Nagelsmann fell out with Manuel Neuer, Sadio Mane, and the board at Bayern, which eventually led to his sacking.
In fairness, the spell at Bayern was arguably the first time that Nagelsmann’s people skills were truly tested, given the number of high-profile players he had to deal with compared to when he was at RB Leipzig and TSG Hoffenheim.
At Chelsea, who have more than 30 first-team player, this will likely be a problem, too, for Nagelsmann or whoever the club eventually appoint.
