Mauricio Pochettino has provided a positive update on the fitness of Chelsea’s Levi Colwill.
Chelsea and Aston Villa played out a 0-0 draw on Friday night in the FA Cup fourth round, which means they’ll need a replay next month at Villa Park.
Unfortunately, Levi Colwill didn’t play last night despite being named in the starting line-up just one hour before kick-off.
The 20-year-old defender was withdrawn from the XI during the warm up, replaced by Alfie Gilchrist.
We’re concerned for Colwill’s fitness after his last minute withdrawal against Villa, but there’s good news that it’s nothing serious.

Speaking in his post-match interview, Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino claimed that a “small issue” ruled Colwill out of the cup tie with Villa.
The centre-back, who was pencilled down to cover at left-back yesterday, should be fine to return to training immediately.
When asked how bad Colwill’s injury is, Pochettino said via Football.London: “No, we don’t believe it’s so bad. A small issue where he didn’t feel comfortable. We knew before we maybe don’t start with him, but then he was ready to play. Then he felt something but it’s not a big issue. I hope he can train tomorrow.”
Levi Colwill injury not serious
Thankfully, Chelsea star Colwill doesn’t have a serious injury concern.
He’s been one of the team’s nailed-on starters this campaign, whether that’s at centre-half or full-back, so it would have been a big blow to lose him for any big length of time.
Will we see him fit and available for the club’s next game? The Blues face a daunting trip to Liverpool next Wednesday night in the Premier League.
90min claimed earlier this week that Chelsea youngster Colwill has been drafted into the squad’s player-led leadership group this season. He’s certainly a growing presence at the club as time moves forward.
