There were some good individual performances in Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Newcastle United over the weekend.
Reece James made his second start of the season on Sunday and did not disappoint. The defender made a crucial headed clearance towards the end of the game.
Cole Palmer also put in another top display, scoring Chelsea‘s second goal after playing a part in their first.
It was his amazing pass that found Pedro Neto, who then assisted Nicolas Jackson for the Blues’ opener. It was a pass that Palmer was keen to play.

Alan Shearer on Cole Palmer’s pass
Former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer was really impressed with Palmer’s ball to Neto and his overall performance.
It saw him include the 22-year-old in his Premier League Team of the Week. Explaining why he decided to pick Palmer, Shearer said: “Another goal to win Chelsea another match, and his stunning pass for Nicolas Jackson’s opener was as good as an assist.”
Palmer has brilliant chemistry with Nicolas Jackson, believes retired defender Micah Richards.
The pair are in red-hot form for Chelsea at the moment, scoring seven and six league goals respectively this season.
Cole Palmer one of the most consistent players in the Premier League
It is no surprise to see Palmer included in a pundit’s Team of the Week once again. He plays at a high level every time he steps onto the pitch for Chelsea.
His numbers from this season and the last one show that, with the £45m attacking midfielder already on 12 goal contributions for the campaign.
Not only does Palmer have ability, but he also has consistency or is at least showing that at present. If you are a manager, the England international is the kind of player you want in your squad.
Enzo Maresca will be so thankful that he has actually got him. Palmer will now be looking to increase his goal tally against United, with Chelsea facing the Red Devils this Sunday.
In total, he scored four goals against them last season, including a hat-trick at Stamford Bridge.
