Alan Shearer has now named the one signing Chelsea simply have to make if they are going to improve in the Premier League.

He told Amazon Prime Video that the Blues are still desperate for a striker, even if Christopher Nkunku is approaching his return from injury.

A 2-1 loss was actually generous for Chelsea last night, as Manchester United missed a heap of chances in front of goal.

There was no clearer one than the penalty given away by Enzo Fernandez, however Robert Sanchez was up to that task.

The Blues missed a heap of chances too though. Nicolas Jackson didn’t threaten with two brilliant ones, while Armando Broja hit the post late on.

Shearer has now clamed that the Blues could do with bringing in a top striker still.

Shearer on Chelsea signing needed

He said: “I know they’ve got a lot of injuries in their team, but I feel that they need to majorly improve up front. Bring one in. I know they’ve got Nkunku to come back there, but creating that many chances and getting in that many great positions, that final ball is vital whether it’s a pass or a finish into the back of the net.

“Here, when you’re creating that many chances and only coming away with one goal, I see that quite a bit with Chelsea. The number of chances they create and they really need to improve.”

Victor Osimhen has strongly been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, however that will almost certainly not be achievable before the end of the current campaign.

This means that they could instead make a move for Ivan Toney, who is back from his ban in January and reportedly pushing to leave Brentford as soon as possible.
