Chelsea defender Alfie Gilchrist seems excited about his move to Championship side Sheffield United.
Sheffield United confirmed on Wednesday that they had signed Alfie Gilchrist on loan from Chelsea.
It could be a good move for the centre-back, who was only able to make 17 appearances for Chelsea’s first team last season.
That number could have dropped in the new campaign had he stayed, with Enzo Maresca possessing plenty of defensive options.
The above includes new signing Tosin Adarabioyo. Adarabioyo really wanted to join Chelsea this summer, leaving Fulham for their west London rivals.

Alfie Gilchrist excited about Sheffield United loan
Gilchrist was playing for his boyhood club last season and in the Premier League, which is arguably the best devision in football.
The Chelsea academy product is not disappointed about having to drop down to the Championship, though, and is relishing his loan spell with United.
After it was announced on X that Gilchrist would be joining the Blades, the 20-year-old took to the social media platform and posted: “Can’t wait to get started.”
Gilchrist really impressed Andy Townsend at Chelsea last season, but he will now have to make a name for himself at Bramall Lane.
What position will Alfie Gilchrist play in at Sheffield United?
Gilchrist mostly played at right-back under Mauricio Pochettino last season, but his natural position is centre-back.
The English youngster will probably be hoping for game time there, then, but the most important thing is that he plays.
Again, that was unlikely to happen at Chelsea in the new campaign because of what Maresca already has at his disposal.
The Blues actually find themselves in a position where they now need to get rid of a defender or two.
Trevoh Chalobah could join Crystal Palace after being left out of Chelsea’s pre-season tour. The Blues currently have no space for him. Going forward, though, maybe they will be able to find room for Gilchrist, who will be desperate to make it at his boyhood club.
