Ally McCoist has admitted he was shocked by how fast Chelsea’s Kai Havertz looked last night against Liverpool.
Chelsea and Liverpool played out a 0-0 draw on Tuesday night in the Premier League, which is becoming a familiar scoreline between the two rivals.
Bruno Saltor, taking charge in his first game as the Blues interim boss, watched from the touchline his team waste a hatful of goalscoring chances.
Havertz, 23, missed a couple of good opportunities to score what would’ve been his 10th goal of the season. He had a goal ruled out by VAR for a handball, too.

TalkSPORT pundit McCoist has highlighted the pace of Kai Havertz, which is perhaps a part of his game that goes under the radar.
He admits the Chelsea forward really surprised him with his turn of speed against Liverpool.
“I’m watching Kai Havertz last night, who, whether people agree or not, is technically an excellent player. He’s very, very quick as well. I didn’t realise how quick he was, and I’ve seen him a few times. He’s very intelligent, but an out-and-out No.9 he’s not,” McCoist told talkSPORT.

Regular Chelsea watchers will be aware of Havertz’s pace and work rate. He just does it in a unique way where it doesn’t always look like he’s trying.
We agree with McCoist that the Germany international is technically superb.
However, his performance last night against Liverpool is exactly why some of the fanbase are fed up and would rather leave Stamford Bridge. His inconsistent finishing makes him infuriating to watch.
GiveMeSport claimed last month that Bayern Munich do have an interest in signing Havertz from Chelsea. The Blues are going to “play hardball” with any offers, though.
It will be very interesting to see where a player like Havertz can fit into the plans of Chelsea’s next manager.
