Pundits have not been shy to comment on the perceived side of Chelsea’s squad going into this season.

The Blues have not been shy to add to their ranks this summer with a host of new signings, although none of them were handed the start for the opening game of the season against Manchester City.

A number of them made their first competitive appearances off the bench, but this saw the likes of Robert Sanchez given another chance to impress.

He didn’t overly take this opportunity, with Gary Neville stating that Sanchez looked nervous between the sticks.

There is competition for the goalkeeper role at Stamford Bridge, however one player who is not in the conversation is Kepa Arrizabalaga.

McCoist says Kepa is in Chelsea’s best team

Despite being nowhere near the first team picture, Ally McCoist has told TalkSPORT that he believes the Spaniard is actually their best available shot-stopper.

He said: “It looks like they’ve only got six goalkeepers so that makes it relatively easier than I thought it was. Right, I’m going for Kepa in goal.”

Kepa banished to train with reserves at Chelsea

It was reported that Enzo Maresca had banished Kepa to train with the youngsters, and the club are no doubt desperate to see his time at the club come to an end.

He spent last season on loan at Real Madrid, and has frequently been linked with a move back to the Champions League winners.

Kepa would even reportedly sit on the bench for Madrid if he could get himself a move there, although at this stage it looks unlikely they can afford to bring him in.

The goalkeeper role at Stamford Bridge could be undergoing some changes in the coming weeks, with new signing Filip Jorgensen looking to break into the starting side.

It remains to be seen whether he is handed his debut in tomorrow’s Conference League tie against Servette.
