‘Anonymous’… Local media criticises 20-year-old Chelsea loanee after last night’s performance

Chelsea-owned youngster Cesare Casadei isn’t having things all his own way during his time at Leicester City.

Cesare Casadei, who’s just 20, joined Leicester in the summer on a season-long loan.

The box-to-box midfielder is playing for a Foxes side at the top of the Championship table, but he’s in and out of the starting line-up due to his form.

He started in Leicester’s 1-1 draw away to Sheffield Wednesday last night. Unfortunately, it was another game that passed him by as he was dragged off on the hour mark.

Bad night at the office

Local media delivered a pretty critical assessment of Casadei’s latest performance in Leicester colours.

The central midfielder is in a Foxes line-up that dominates the ball in pretty much every game this season, but he can’t quite seem to stamp his authority.

Leicestershire Live wrote: “Cesare Casadei: It was another anonymous showing from the young Italian, who bar that bright game against Sunderland, has really struggled to make an impact over recent months. In the heart of the pitch, you can’t afford to go missing. 4/10.”

Cesare Casadei still very raw

If you’ve watched Leicester games this season, you’ll know that Casadei is standing out for the wrong reasons.

He’s got an eye-catching frame with great physicality and aggression. The Italy Under-21 international is a very highly rated talent with big potential, too.

However, he looks like a weak point in a Leicester team charging towards promotion this term.

Speaking via Leicester’s official website last month, Casadei admitted that he didn’t think for a minute when Chelsea’s interest appeared in the summer. However, our guess is the young Italian is going to need several more loans before he gets close to the first-team squad at Stamford Bridge.

It’s worth adding that the competition for places in midfield is very high in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad right now, so it’ll take something big for a loanee to breakthrough in that position.
