Journalist Matt Law has now claimed that Nottingham Forest have apologised to Chelsea over their treatment of loanee Andrey Santos this season.

He told the ‘London is Blue’ podcast that the Premier League side will not stop Chelsea recalling him in January if they decide to.

When signed back in January, there was a lot of excitement about the future of Santos at Stamford Bridge.

With him already being a Brazil international, some at the club thought he was a better addition than that of Enzo Fernandez that month.

In what is a crucial season for his development, he is often not even making the matchday squad at Nottingham Forest.

Law has now claimed that the Premier League club are apologetic over the situation that has played out.

Forest apologise to Chelsea over Santos

He said: “This is turning out to be a really bad loan. This, I’ve got to say, always looked a bad loan. I know it’s easy to say that in hindsight, but they sent him to the one club in the Premier League with more players than Chelsea. It’s become very clear that he’s not a Steve Cooper pick.

“He’s gonna have to come back or go somewhere else, because it’s pointless for all involved. I’m led to believe that there have been conversations between Forest and Chelsea in the last couple of weeks to try and clear up why he hasn’t been playing and what the plan is for him.

“Forest are slightly apologetic about it, and probably agreeing with the fact that should Chelsea want to recall him in January, they’re not going to try and get in the way of that.”

After receiving plenty of loan interest in the player over the summer, there will be some questions asked over how they got things so wrong with Santos.
