Chelsea loanee Axel Disasi made his second appearance for Aston Villa on Wednesday night during an entertaining match against Liverpool.

Aston Villa recorded a 2-2 draw at home to Liverpool during a midweek Premier League fixture. Next, Chelsea travel to Villa Park on Saturday evening in the league.

Axel Disasi, 26, left the Blues on deadline day of the January transfer window to join Villa on loan for the rest of the season. Incidentally, there’s no option or obligation to buy clause in the deal.

The central defender was in and out of the side at Stamford Bridge in the first half of the campaign, but he’s now completed 90 minutes in back-to-back league games for Unai Emery’s side since his mid-season transfer.

Disasi thought he would be staying at Chelsea as he faced an uncertain deadline day. It looks like his move to the Midlands has been fantastic for him so far, though.

Aston Villa fans react to Chelsea loanee Axel Disasi’s performance vs Liverpool

Many Villa supporters on social media were all saying they want Disasi to join their club permanently from Chelsea following his eye-catching display versus Liverpool.

The central defender formed a solid partnership alongside Tyrone Mings in the heart of the backline, which may have some real potential moving forward. However, it’s possibly good news for Chelsea that Disasi is ineligible to play against his parent club on the weekend.

Here are Villa fans on X praising their on-loan centre-back…

One fan wrote: “I wish we had an option to sign Disasi in the summer. Really like what I see from him.”

“Axel Disasi has been rock solid this game. We’ve loaned in Chelsea’s best centre-back,” another said.

One supporter posted: “Have to say that Axel Disasi looks rock solid. I’d go for him on a permanent if Chelsea let him.”

“Axel Disasi. An example of why you shouldn’t listen to opposition fans. Been solid so far,” another claimed.

One fan added: “Think we should make Disasi deal permanent no matter what.”

Disasi wanted to leave Chelsea to play more football because he had fallen quite far down the defensive pecking order.

The versatile Frenchman covered at right-back at times this season for the Blues, but he’s impressed in his preferred centre-half role so far in Villa colours.

Axel Disasi impresses against Liverpool

It’s pretty impressive how quickly Disasi has arrived at a brand new club and immediately slotted into the XI.

In Villa’s entertaining draw against Liverpool, the Chelsea loanee was extremely composed and precise in possession. He contributed with some key defensive moments, too.

Earlier in the season, John Obi Mikel highlighted Disasi’s struggles at right-back for Chelsea. It’s pretty obvious already that he can be a big solution and upgrade for Villa in the centre of defence for the second half of the 2024/25 campaign. In the right system, the Frenchman can thrive as an aggressive centre-half.
