BBC pundit says Chelsea player signed by Thomas Tuchel now looks as good as he’s been in ages

Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling is certainly in the spotlight right now.

First of all, Raheem Sterling has enjoyed an upturn in form since Mauricio Pochettino took charge as head coach in the summer.

The 28-year-old’s received plenty of praise in the media for his improved performances. For example, speaking via FIVE’s YouTube channel this week, John Obi Mikel said that Sterling has been Chelsea’s best player this season.

On top of that, there’s a lot of talk about Sterling’s omission from Gareth Southgate’s England squad this month. It seems remarkable that the experienced Blues attacker is back training with his club during the international break.

BBC pundit Michael Brown has now added that Sterling looked as good as he’s been in ages during his most recent performance.

The speedster scored and was fantastic during last Sunday’s 4-4 Premier League draw at home to Manchester City.

“I think Sterling played absolutely brilliantly last time out against Manchester City. It’s the best I’ve seen him in a long time. The way he got the ball, the way he turned, the way he tracked back, he was sharp and doing little nutmegs. He was driving inside, got himself that goal on the back post and it was a big message,” Brown told BBC Sport.

Raheem Sterling picking up after slow start

Signed by Thomas Tuchel back in 2022, Sterling didn’t reach his top heights during his first season with the club. We could say the same about pretty much every player in last season’s squad at Stamford Bridge, though.

It definitely feels like his form and confidence is picking up again, with Pochettino the right person in the manager’s dugout to get the best out of him.

He’s starting consistently on the wing, where he’s playing to his strengths by being fast and direct on the ball. It’s a really effective contrast with him one side of the attack and creative playmaker Cole Palmer on the other.

Let’s hope that Chelsea’s entire forward line can continue in the same vein of goalscoring form when domestic football returns after the international break. Sterling should definitely be extra motivated and desperate to get back out on the pitch.
