Ben Chilwell now shares what Mauricio Pochettino did in team meeting during his first few days at Chelsea

Ben Chilwell has suggested that all of the Chelsea players are really excited about working closely with Mauricio Pochettino as he provided an insight into what the manager has done since arriving at Stamford Bridge.

Chilwell was speaking to BBC Sport about the Argentinian after being asked what it is like getting to know the new boss.

The Mauricio Pochettino era at Chelsea is now underway, with the Blues drawing their opening Premier League game of the campaign.

We started slow against Liverpool. But the side very much grew into the contest. And by the end, the Reds were probably much more content with leaving with a point.

There are encouraging signs that Pochettino could be the manager to drive the club forward after last year’s miserable campaign. And it certainly appears that he has managed to impress the players since his arrival earlier this year.

Ben Chilwell was asked about what working under Pochettino has been like so far. And he clearly had nothing but positive things to say.

“When he first came in he made a very big effort to get to know us all personally. He’s set his standards,” he told BBC Sport.

“We had a meeting after a few days of him being here where he explained to us what he expects to us as a group and then the football side of things seems very exciting, the formation and style of football that he wants to play. We have all really brought in. We’re really excited for what is going to be a good season.”

Of course, it is too soon to make any confident predictions. But it does seem that Pochettino has rediscovered his passion for the game after a difficult time at Paris Saint-Germain.

And we know how good the 51-year-old can be when he is at his best. He has certainly proven himself in the Premier League.

It definitely does have the potential to be a really exciting period for the club. It is going to take some time and a lot of work before we are back in contention for the title.

But if Pochettino can unlock the full potential within the current squad, it will definitely prove to be an absolutely inspired appointment.
