Joao Pedro’s start to life at Chelsea has been pretty impressive, proving the club were right to splash out £60m to sign him from Brighton.
After joining the Blues midway through the Club World Cup tournament this summer, Joao Pedro immediately shone to help them win the trophy. The 24-year-old attacker has followed it up with a strong start to the 2025-26 campaign as well.
It’s been a healthy return for the Brazilian star, scoring five goals and creating three assists in 12 appearances across all competitions.
In terms of Premier League summer signings, Pedro’s move to Chelsea is rated very highly because of how quickly he’s hit the ground running. Even though plenty of forwards have struggled to settle at Stamford Bridge, he’s had the complete opposite start.

Ben Foster is a giant fan of Joao Pedro
Former Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster has shared that he loves Chelsea’s Pedro. In particular, he admires his character and aggressive approach on the football pitch.
Speaking on Ben Foster – The Cycling GK, Foster said: “What I like about Joao Pedro is he can score a lot of different goals. He scores a lot of dirty little goals. It’s him as a character… He doesn’t mind getting his head stuck in. Phenomenal footballer.”
Chelsea supporters often love a maverick in their team who’s got a mean streak, so Pedro has quickly won over the fanbase. His quality in front of goal helps, too!

Joao Pedro to return fit and firing
There have been signs in the past couple of games that Pedro has started to slow down at Chelsea, which we blame on his relentless schedule since joining. Thankfully, he’s had two weeks during October’s international break to rest because Brazil wisely opted not to call him up.
Pedro continued to play when he wasn’t 100 per cent fit because of the other injuries in the squad.
Now that he’s had some time off, the South American frontman could be ready to return with a bang, starting this Saturday at the City Ground.
