Former footballer Ben Foster has been left stunned after hearing what Mauricio Pochettino had to say after the EFL Cup final on Sunday.
He told the ‘Fozcast’ that he couldn’t believe he had hears the boss hint that he was holding out for penalties as extra-time came towards an end last weekend.
Pochettino’s trophy duck in England was extended at Wembley on Sunday, with his side losing in heartbreaking fashion.

A number of figures in the media came out after the game to criticise this approach, with them acknowledging the value of the blue players on the pitch in comparison to those in red.
Foster was another who was surprised at what he was hearing, describing that approach from the boss as ‘bonkers’.
He said: “I thought that was bonkers. I heard Pochettino say afterwards that penalties would have been a good moment for them. I’m thinking what on earth are you on about here?”
Foster on ‘bonkers’ Pochettino omission
The pressure has reportedly already been rising on Pochettino off the back of the defeat, with that final being an opportunity for the club to secure European football for the upcoming campaign.
It has been claimed that the Blues are looking both home and away for a potential replacement, with Roberto de Zerbi one of the names being monitored ahead of a potential change at the helm.
If they were looking to bring in someone from abroad, it has been claimed that they are big admirers of Ruben Amorim, who is currently in charge of Sporting Lisbon.
Hiring the promising young coach would perhaps give the club a better chance at securing one of their top striker targets in Viktor Gyokeres, who currently sits as the top scoring forward in Europe right now.
