Chelsea reportedly have another Borussia Dortmund player on their radar ahead of the new year.

Chelsea and Dortmund did plenty of business during the last transfer window, with the Blues signing Jamie Gittens from the German club.

They also sold Carney Chukwuemeka to Dortmund, while Aaron Anselmino was allowed to join Niko Kovac’s side on loan. After an impressive debut, Anselmino is now having some injury trouble at Signal Iduna Park.

In the future, more business could be done between the two clubs, as Chelsea eye another one of Dortmund’s attackers.

Borussia Dortmund want to hand Karim Adeyemi longer contract

Chelsea are thought to have some interest in Karim Adeyemi, but ideally, Dortmund would like to keep him.

According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona could all battle it out for Adeyemi’s signature.

However, to prevent that from happening, Dortmund want to hand the versatile attacker a longer contract. The same outlet claims that that is the Bundesliga outfit’s plan to fend off interest in the player.

This is not the first time that Adeyemi has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge. In April, it was reported that Chelsea wanted to sign Adeyemi going into the summer transfer window.

Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel was also said to have been under consideration, but in the end, Gittens was the only player Chelsea signed from Dortmund.

How Karim Adeyemi’s and Jamie Gittens’ 2024/25 league stats compare

In his final season at Dortmund, Gittens managed to outscore Adeyemi by one goal. However, the 21-year-old played more games in the Bundesliga than his former teammate.

Adeyemi, on the other hand, registered more assists. He also averaged more key passes per league game.

Both players are wingers, with Adeyemi capable of playing on the right, on the left and up front.

Chelsea currently have Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho for the left-wing position, while Pedro Neto and Estevao Willian are the right-wing options at Stamford Bridge. Bearing that in mind, Adeyemi is probably not needed.
