Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are both “top players” in the Chelsea squad right now.
That is according to Blues teammate Conor Gallagher.
As the Chelsea side begins to take shape under Mauricio Pochettino, there’s a new-look midfield at Stamford Bridge that is going from strength to strength.
We’ve seen in recent weeks a midfield combination of Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Conor Gallagher really dominate some games.
What’s exciting is that Gallagher, who’s still only 23 years of age, is the oldest of the trio.
Fernandez, 22, is already a World Cup winner and extremely talented on the ball.
Meanwhile, 21-year-old Caicedo is the midfield destroyer with his tackling and interceptions.

Chelsea seizing control in the midfield
Gallagher has spoken very highly of his fellow midfielders ahead of Saturday’s Premier League fixture at home to Brentford.
Gallagher told TNT Sports: “They are both top players. You forget how young they are. They are top talents. They are both younger than me which feels weird for me to say. They’ve been really good. Hopefully it will just get better and we can understand our games even more.”
Conor Gallagher completes the balance
We’re absolutely delighted with how the midfield is taking shape right now.
There’s a perfect blend of quality both on and off the ball when you look at Caicedo, Fernandez and Gallagher together. If we’re being picky, we just need a few goals from each to elevate them to new heights.
For what is a brand new partnership, there’s still a lot to be positive about.
It’s great to see a freedom and licence for Gallagher to go express himself when he’s got the security of a Caicedo-Fernandez pivot just behind him.
Andy Townsend recently admitted to talkSPORT (8:43am, 24 October) that Chelsea and England star Gallagher is winning him over with his eye-catching performances this season.
The 23-year-old is definitely winning over the fanbase as well with his relentless displays. He’s even been the stand-in captain for the side in recent games, too.
