‘Brilliant’ Chelsea player now named in the Premier League Team of the Month for August

While the Premier League season is only three games in at this point, a number of Chelsea players have begun to leave their mark on the campaign.

The Blues have experienced all three results under Enzo Maresca so far in the league, with them recently being held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace.

Maresca was furious with the referee in that game, with Will Hughes somehow avoiding a red card moments before his side found the net to level the game.

Despite the draw, Nicolas Jackson continued to silence the doubters with a second goal in as many games.

That finish was set up exquisitely by Cole Palmer, who has started the season very well despite not taking part in the pre-season tour of the United States.

Cole Palmer in Premier League Team of the Month

His display against Wolves last week saw Palmer described as ‘brilliant’ by Ben Foster, with him scoring once and assisting three more.

It seems as if that display on its own was enough to see him recognised as one of the better players in the Premier League right now.

WhoScored have named the England international in their Team of the Month for August, with him being the only Chelsea player named in that side.

Noni Madueke unlucky to not be named in the Team of the Month

This could be deemed as harsh on Noni Madueke, who has enjoyed a very strong start to life in the league this season, following on from his hat-trick in the destruction of Wolves.

Palmer seems to have found his best position in a Chelsea side under Maresca, with him being left frustrated when starting on the right against Manchester City on the opening day of the season.

Featuring in the middle has seen him far more involved in the play, and is no doubt a contributing factor to the five combined goals and assists he has in the two subsequent games.

He will almost certainly continue in that role when club football returns following the international break.
