I saw £32m Chelsea player prove all the doubters wrong despite draw vs Crystal Palace

Chelsea were not able to make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League after they were held at Stamford Bridge today.

The Blues drew 1-1 against Crystal Palace, with them missing out on the chance to move towards the Champions League places with that result.

Enzo Maresca will be disappointed his side were not able to capitalise on the first-half lead they created for themselves.

A number of new signings were on display for the home side this afternoon, with Pedro Neto being given his opportunity to impress from the start, before he was replaced by Joao Felix.

No new striker coming in on deadline day saw Nicolas Jackson handed the start again, with that proving the right decision as the game went on.

Nicolas Jackson proves doubters wrong

The Senegal international opened the scoring for the second consecutive league game, with him continuing to prove that the Blues did not need to address that position in the transfer window.

Jackson linked up really nicely with Noni Madueke and Cole Palmer at times, with the latter being the provider yet again for his first-half goal.

All the talk in the final hours of the transfer window revolved around Victor Osimhen, and if Chelsea were finally going to bring a near two-year transfer saga to an end.

Some may have been left underwhelmed by the fact a big-name did not come in to play up front, although Jackson will believe his performances since joining the club in the summer of 2023 for a fee of £32m.

Enzo Maresca pleased with Jackson

Maresca recently said he was delighted by Jackson and the start he had made to the season, and he looks as if he is still going to be one of the first names on the teamsheet at this stage.

Based on his performance against Palace today, that feels the right decision for the manager to make.
