Andrey Santos has now been given permission to play for Chelsea next season by the Football Association.

That is according to Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports.

So, what is the situation involving Andrey Santos at Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, Chelsea signed the Brazil Under-20 international from Vasco da Gama back in January in a deal worth £18m.

Santos continued to play in South America after he was denied a work permit by the United Kingdom Government, before linking up with Chelsea for pre-season training.

There were still question marks over whether the 19-year-old could play in the Premier League for Chelsea next season, after failing to qualify for a work permit by just a single point previously.

Now – however – Santos has been given a permit to work in the United Kingdom, after the FA relaxed their rules on overseas talent.

Under the new model, Jacobs claims that the teenager would have immediately received a work permit back in January, which bodes well for Todd Boehly as Chelsea continue to shop in South America.

Chelsea fans should be excited about Andrey Santos

In our view, Santos just feels like someone who is going to succeed at Chelsea – he gives us similar vibes to Ramires.

Respected journalist Graeme Bailey believes those at Stamford Bridge think they have a “special” talent on their hands when speaking on the Talking Transfers podcast.

He said: “Andrey Santos, I’m fascinated by this guy. I think he is going to be something special. They think there is something special there as well.”

The Daily Mail have added that Chelsea insiders even believe Santos could become the best signing of the Todd Boehly era – that is how much hype surrounds the South American sensation.

With N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek now gone, there is a real opening for Santos to make a name for himself at Stamford Bridge – hopefully, he takes his chance with both hands after finally obtaining a work permit.
