‘Can’t see him going’: TalkSPORT pundit says 27-year-old player with ‘ridiculous pace’ won’t join Chelsea

Manchester City star Raheem Sterling won’t join Chelsea this summer, according to pundit Trevor Sinclair.

Sterling, who’s playing in the current England squad, is being tipped for a potential exit from the Etihad Stadium before the new season starts.

The 27-year-old would reportedly consider joining Chelsea this summer. However, the rapid attacker is going to need assurances from Blues manager Thomas Tuchel that he’ll be a constant starter at Stamford Bridge.

It’s obvious Tuchel’s side need more attacking firepower looking ahead to the next campaign, something that Sterling has plenty of on his CV. For example, he’s already in the Premier League’s 100 club for goals (109).

Sterling won’t join Chelsea

TalkSPORT pundit Sinclair doesn’t think Sterling is going to leave Man City for a domestic rival, though, mentioning both Chelsea and Tottenham as interested suitors.

His senior career has seen him play for both Man City and Liverpool so far. Will he end up playing for another of the Premier League’s ‘big six’, though?

“I don’t think he’s valued enough off Pep [Guardiola] if I’m being honest. He’s got something that you can’t coach and that’s ridiculous pace. I think he’s proved time and time again his character is sound. He’s a family man, a role model. For me, he’s a world-class player,” Sinclair told talkSPORT.

“I can’t see him going to a domestic rival now (Chelsea or Tottenham). He’ll have to go to a Champions League rival.”

Eyes on Manchester

It’s interesting to hear Sterling is not the only Man City player in Chelsea’s sights in this window.

Tuchel’s side have reportedly begun talks over a move to try sign 25-year-old Man City attacker Gabriel Jesus, who could cost €50million (£43million).

Both him and Sterling have shown in recent years they score plenty of goals in England, but there’s a rotation policy at the Etihad that means each forward can’t be guaranteed to start.
