Steve Nicol has been extremely critical of a few Chelsea players after the Blues’ 4-2 loss against Wolverhampton Wanderers yesterday.

Chelsea were really poor and Steve Nicol has now called out the likes of Raheem Sterling and Conor Gallagher on ESPN FC.

That defeat has seen Mauricio Pochettino‘s team drop to 11th and into the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Sterling has now failed to score in his last eight top-flight games, with his last strike coming in a 4-1 loss against Newcastle United all the way back in November.

Some Chelsea fans booed him off yesterday as he was substituted.

Steve Nicol slams Raheem Sterling for disappearing

For Nicol, Sterling has not been consistent enough this season.

On the winger, who cost Chelsea £50m (BBC Sport), and Gallagher, the Liverpool legend said: “Conor Gallagher, doesn’t get anywhere close to any of the top 4 sides.

“Raheem Sterling, you can’t trust this guy. When he steps on the field, you don’t know what you’re gonna get. Sometimes he’s good, sometimes he disappears.”

Raheem Sterling inconsistent

Sterling definitely has not shown enough consistency in the current campaign, especially of late. His lack of goals recently really highlights that.

Hopefully he can find some form now, with Chelsea taking on his former club Liverpool in the Carabao Cup at the end of the month.

Pochettino will need everyone at their best if his side are to have any chance of coming out as victors at Wembley.

Sterling and Co were really punished by Liverpool when the two rivals last met, which was only last week. Just as in the Wolves game, Chelsea conceded four goals, going on to lose 4-1. You have to imagine that they cannot do any worse in the final.
