Enzo Maresca is now just a few weeks away from getting his Premier League career started as Chelsea manager.

The Italian is currently taking charge of his side on the pre-season tour of the United States, with him looking to get his philosophies and ideas across to the players in time for the domestic campaign.

Chelsea picked up their first victory of any kind of the Maresca era last night as they comfortbaly beat Club America 3-0.

Christopher Nkunku kept up his run of scoring in every game so far this summer, with him no doubt looking for a big season following his injury woes last time out.

There is no doubt pressure for Maresca to deliver this season, with Mauricio Pochettino still delivering a sixth placed finish despite a whole host of issues affecting the squad.

Carlo Ancelotti backs Enzo Maresca to succeed at Chelsea

One man who certainly knows how to deal with the pressure that comes with being in the hotseat at Stamford Bridge is Carlo Ancelotti, who is currently continuing his brilliant run as Real Madrid manager.

Talking on John Obi Mikel’s ‘Obi One Podcast’, the former Blues boss has given his backing of Maresca to do a good job as Chelsea manager.

He said: “Experience is not the most important part of our job; it’s part of our job, but of course, the most important part is the knowledge. And the fact that he has experience with Guardiola and with Leicester City, I think he has the knowledge to manage and to do well at Chelsea.”

Chelsea start Premier League season against Manchester City

It is certianly not an easy start to life in the top flight for the Italian, with him drawn against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

The players will no doubt be looking to take something from when they played the champions last season. They will feel as if they could have won either game that eventually ended in a draw in the Premier League.
