Mauricio Pochettino took over Chelsea last summer following the sacking of Graham Potter.
However, Chelsea looked at another manager with Premier League experience before Mauricio Pochettino was eventually appointed.
On his Substack Si Phillips Talks Chelsea, journalist Simon Phillips has claimed that the Blues also considered Brentford boss Thomas Frank.
According to Phillips, Burnley’s Vincent Kompany was also another name that Chelsea had on their radar.
In the end, though, they went with Pochettino, and the decision to do so is yet to pay off. Under him, they have lost one cup final and are in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Chelsea considered Thomas Frank
It is easy to see why Frank was a name that Chelsea at least considered.
The 50-year-old has done a pretty good job in the Premier League since winning promotion with Brentford.
He kept the Bees in the top flight in their first season there and finished ninth last term, above Chelsea.
Would the Blues be doing any worse now with the Dane at the helm? They are currently 11th in the table under Pochettino so probably not.
Understandably, though, Chelsea went with someone who has experience managing at a big club, Pochettino, who has had spells at Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur. His appointment has not worked out, but you cannot blame the club’s thinking.
Unfortunately for the Argentine, his job in the Stamford Bridge dugout now looks to be in danger following his side’s loss to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final over the weekend.
It is being reported that Chelsea are already considering potential replacements for him. Is Frank one of them? We will have to wait and see, but Pochettino is not dead yet. If he can take the club back into Europe and win the FA Cup, there may not be a need for the Blues to hire a new manager.
