If there is one position that Chelsea fans see as an absolute priority to strengthen when the transfer window opens again, goalkeeper would be the one they would choose.

Robert Sanchez has been between the sticks for the majority of the season, however supporters are getting tired of his mistakes that are costing the Blues more goals against them than any other Premier League club.

Enzo Maresca has heavily backed his goalkeeper in interviews and press conferences, however started Filip Jorgensen in the last Premier League game against West Ham.

It has been claimed that chiefs at Chelsea are looking at new goalkeepers despite the manager’s comments, with a number of names being mentioned on their shortlist.

Chelsea add Lucas Chevalier to their transfer shortlist

The likes of Zion Suzuki and Gregor Kobel have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, and the latest figure on that list is Lucas Chevalier.

The Frenchman has started every Ligue 1 game this season for Lille, and seems to have made an impression on a number of top clubs.

One of those is Chelsea, and Simon Phillips has reported the Blues have added him to their shortlist as a potential option for the summer.

He said on the Simon Phillips Substack: “But the latest name we are hearing via SPTC sources is Lucas Chevalier of Lille. Chevalier is 23-years-old, a 6-capped French U21 international, stands at 6ft 2in tall, and has played well over 100 senior league games in his career so far.

“Chelsea are putting a number of options for new goalkeeper together so there will be other names as always. It is just interest at the moment and no direct approaches have been made.

“A final decision on a new goalkeeper will be made in the summer, with options and names being looked at and discussed now.”

Chevalier’s legendary Champions League performance against Real Madrid

One of the biggest overachievers in the new-look Champions League this season was Lille, and this came largely from a win over holders Real Madrid early in the competition.

The 1-0 win back in October was Chevalier’s own rise to stardom, with him putting in a sensational display to keep out the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr.

Chelsea need a goalkeeper who is going to win them points rather than lose them if they are to get to where they want to in the Premier League and in Europe.

Chevalier has proven he can do this at the highest level, although this decision could be so crucial for the project, and is one the decision makers need to get spot on this summer.
