Chelsea look increasingly likely to dip into the January transfer market as they look to get their Premier League campaign back on track.
The Blues made an excellent start to the season under Enzo Maresca in his first top flight job, however have stumbled in recent weeks and are dangerously close to falling out of the top four.
Some may point to the injury woes that Chelsea have been dealing with in recent weeks as a reason for their downfall. The likes of Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile are expected to be out for a long time.
Another position where the Blues seem to be struggling for quality depth is midfield. Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo have been forced to play every game in the prolonged absence again of Romeo Lavia.

Chelsea in pole position to sign Kobbie Mainoo
A midfield signing could well be on the cards for Chelsea, and recent reports have linked them to the signing of Kobbie Mainoo from Manchester United.
The youngster remains an important player at Old Trafford, however that has not put the Blues off, with Chris Wheeler claiming that Chelsea are leading the race to sign him should he leave.
He said: “Exclusive: Chelsea leading the chase for Kobbie Mainoo if he leaves Man Utd.”
The Blues do have the likes of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Carney Chukwuemeka in their ranks, however the fact they are up for sale in the January transfer window suggests there is not much faith in them.

Cole Palmer a big fan of Kobbie Mainoo
One Chelsea player who would certainly be a fan of the signing is Cole Palmer, who is known as a good friend to Mainoo.
The pair represented England together at Euro 2024, and would be in many people’s starting sides when it comes to future sides under Thomas Tuchel.
Palmer was full of praise for the midfielder after the tournament, saying to GQ Magazine: “He knows I think he was the best player at the Euros. And obviously what he’s doing for one of the biggest clubs in the world.”
Some may wonder though if the Blues need the signing, with Andrey Santos impressing greatly and clearly a part of the club’s long term plans.
