The January transfer window of 2025 is threatening to go down as a real missed opportunity as far as Chelsea are concerned.
It looked pretty clear that Enzo Maresca needed reinforcements midway through the season in order to counteract their drop in form domestically.
A big reason behind the run which has consisted of just one win in seven games has been big goalscoring chances going begging.

Nicolas Jackson is just one of the players whose shooting boots appear to have gone missing of late, and this has seen supporters calling out for the club to bring in a new striker in January.

Chelsea can save January transfer window by signing Evan Ferguson on loan
One name they have been linked to plenty in the past is Evan Ferguson, with there being a real opportunity for him to be on the move before the end of the month.
Fabrizio Romano has stated that Ferguson is available on loan for the rest of the season, with a number of sides around Europe keeping an eye on the situation.
He said: “Evan Ferguson, expected to leave Brighton on loan in the next days with genuine interest from several clubs. PL, Ligue1 and Bundesliga clubs have made contact with decision to follow soon.”
The Blues have not been afraid to get involved in big-money negotiations with Brighton in the past. That is how they have ended up with top performers Moises Caicedo and Marc Cucurella.
Despite their recent interest, Chelsea have previously reportedly been quoted a fee of around £100m to sign the Republic of Ireland international, an amount which would feel a stretch.
However, a move on loan for a now-fit Ferguson could bring the exact competition they need to go alongside Jackson.
‘Superstar’ Evan Ferguson would suit Chelsea better than Christopher Nkunku
Micah Richards previously described Ferguson as a ‘superstar’, while Alan Shearer is a huge fan of how he plays as a Premier League striker.
Richards said to BBC Sport: “Ferguson, Joao Pedro and (Simon) Adingra – they were outstanding today. All were on the scoresheet today and all 21 or under.
“Ferguson’s going to be a real star. He’s a superstar. There’s something in his play, he’s so mature the way he links up, the way he takes his chances. Everything about him I love. He’s natural – and 18 years old.”
Meanwhile, Shearer added: “I love everything about him – his hold up play, his desire to get into the box, his strength. Very impressive.”
Having someone who can get the rest of the attack involved is very important to how Chelsea play, and would mean Enzo Maresca’s system doesn’t need to drastically change when Jackson is out of the side.
This is currently the case whenever Christopher Nkunku plays, with it feeling like Ferguson would be a far better suit to how Chelsea want to play.
