Chelsea are looking to pounce as the January transfer window approaches it’s final week, with them yet to make a permanent signing.

Only Trevoh Chalobah has been brought in to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s squad so far this month. He starred in his return performance against Wolves at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are reportedly interested in signing a new striker this month in order to provide competition for Nicolas Jackson in the current first team squad.

Chelsea reignite interest in signing Benjamin Sesko

Chelsea fans have been divided over Jackson of late, with the goals drying up. However, Christopher Nkunku has still not been trusted with a proper opportunity to lead the line.

The Blues have been linked to a number of names to strengthen their options up top, and one name who has cropped up again in the latter stages of the January transfer window is Benjamin Sesko.

According to The Telegraph, the RB Leipzig man is one of the players Chelsea could make a move for Sesko this month.

It has been reported that London rivals Arsenal are also intrigued by a deal to sign the young striker. The Mirror have described Sesko as one of Arsenal’s top targets.

The situation brings back memories of one of Chelsea’s top January signings of the past, with them beating the Gunners to a deal for Mykhailo Mudryk despite the fact he looked certain to be moving to the Emirates.

Which other strikers are Chelsea interested in?

The Blues have been linked with a number of strikers to sign in January, as they look to give Maresca the best possible chance of finishing in the top four.

One name they have been strongly linked with is Liam Delap, who has enjoyed a strong campaign in the Premier League with Ipswich.

The club have been in contact with Ipswich over signing Delap this month, however the relegation-threatened side would prefer a sale in the summer.
