Chelsea director Joe Shields has been spotted on social media applauding Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.

He took to the comments of the player’s Instagram live to drop an applause emoji after the Seagulls qualified for the Europa League last night.

A draw with recently crowned champions Manchester City reminded everyone yesterday just how impressive Brighton have been this season. Caicedo has been crucial to their success.

Playing at the heart of midfield alongside former Blue Billy Gilmour, or even at right-back as injuries began to affect their side in the run-in.

Manager Roberto de Zerbi has already claimed that his side are going to struggle to keep hold of the Ecuadorian this summer, as big clubs circle in on a number of their top players.

Then, reports have gone on to state that the Blues have made the 21-year-old their number one target as a midfielder this summer, with a deal potentially reaching as much as £70m.

Shields praises Caicedo

It has been claimed that Chelsea are in the market for a player who can perfectly compliment the skillset held by club-record signing Enzo Fernandez.

The Blues have been very impressed with the World Cup winner since he arrived in January, which has perhaps been shown by the fact that he has started every game since his addition in January.

Now, it seems like Shields has been left very impressed by Caicedo following his remarkable season.

After joining from Southampton, there have been plenty of reports that he may look to lead any efforts from the club to sign Romeo Lavia.

After showing interest in the youngster last summer, they may return to the scene after his price was surely slashed off the back of his club being relegated from the Premier League this season.
