There was a lot of dismay amongst some sections of the Chelsea fanbase when the decision was made to loan Joao Felix out on deadline day of the winter transfer window.

Just six months after joining the club, Felix was wanted by a number of clubs, with the Blues not standing in the way of a mid-season exit.

The Portugal international made the move to AC Milan, and took just a few minutes to score on his debut and impress his new fans along the way.

Chelsea fans think they’ve been proven right about Joao Felix after AC Milan’s Champions League exit

It is fair to say that things have not quite gone as well since then for Felix. Italian media were not too impressed by his display in the Champions League playoff first leg against Feyenoord.

He and his side had a chance to make amends in the second leg, although they were dumped out following a 2-1 aggregate loss.

Chelsea fans were somewhat amused by the fact Felix was not able to help his side through to the next round of the competition, with many believing this was more of what was to expect from the player.

One user said: “Watching Joao Felix play football for AC Milan makes you understand why Maresca and Chelsea decided to loan out the guy.”

Another added: “Felix is a waste. If you like start him in all games, he won’t give you what you want. He’s just there for aesthetics but some Chelsea fans don’t want to admit.”

A third stated: “For such a very talented footballer, Joao Felix has really had a disappointing career, due largely to his unseriousness.”

Another user claimed: “Joao Felix trying roulettes and flicks on halfway line while down to 10 men, time and a place. Leao seems a bit of a theory twitter hype player if I’m honest, majority of watching him come in Champions League obviously but often does a whole lot of nothing really in those games.”

Finally, one user said: “Joao Felix is another one absolute nothing player. Should go back to Benfica.”

Joao Felix’s Chelsea future

Despite only leaving on loan for now, the likelihood is that Felix leaves the club permanently at the end of the season.

Milan are very keen on making his addition permanent, and there has even been talk of them including a player in negotiations to lower the fee.

The likes of Rafael Leao have been transfer targets of Chelsea for a number of years now, and could jump at the chance to bring him in.

Their city rivals Inter Milan are also reportedly considering trying to sign Felix, which would see him add yet another elite side to the long list he has already featured for.
