Last night saw a number of the recent refereeing decisions where VAR was required to intervene scrutinised on Sky Sports.
Supporters of the sport have been left fuming in recent weeks at some of the calls made, with a clearly wrongly disallowed goal being chalked off for Liverpool against Tottenham.
While the rules stated that officials could not alter the decision after the game had been restarted, those who run the game from Stockley Park almost broke their own rules when Chelsea last took to the field.

Raheem Sterling made it 3-1 to the Blues in the second half, however after kick-off the game was stopped again for them to check for offside.
However, last night’s show saw Chelsea fans given the audio behind Malo Gusto’s red card against Aston Villa.
While there was a broad acceptance that the decision was not the worst one ever seen, many supporters were not happy about the way the officials got to that decision.
One took to Twitter to state: “Everything that’s wrong with VAR in a nutshell this, what a ridiculous way to make a decision. It’s become a job to try and convince the on-field referee, rather than offer them a 2nd, unbiased & improved view.”

Another said: “Here’s the audio clip from Gusto’s red card. What’s baffling to me is WHY did they not send Kovacic off for a tackle that was WORSE than this?”
A third claimed: “Watching this video again and no way this is a red!!! Gusto went for the ball, he got the ball first.” While annoyance is very clear at the process currently involved with officiating our game, it doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere right now.
