Many Chelsea supporters will feel that they have been missing a real top-class number nine in their squad for a number of years now.

Some will go back all the way to when Diego Costa was at the club when they had a player up front who was genuinely capable of winning them the Premier League amongst other honours.

There is a lot of excitement over Nicolas Jackson at the moment, with him already sitting on seven goals in the league so far this season.

However, his good form has not seen the end of rumours that the Blues could be looking to sign a new striker when the transfer window opens again.

One figure they are showing particular interest in is Liam Delap, who was one of the top performers in Ipswich’s draw with Manchester United on Sunday.

Chelsea fans compare Liam Delap to Diego Costa

Joe Shields is reportedly behind their interest in Delap, and Chelsea fans can see a lot of similarities in the ‘special’ striker to Costa.

One user said: “Delap is watching Diego Costa’s video clips.”

Another added: “He is the next Diego Costa.”

A third claimed: “Top link up play and box movement , if he keeps playing like this he will be 5x the player Gyokeres is now in 2 years.”

Another added: “I love this Delap guy. A proper old fashion centre forward, bullying defenders with so much energy..”

Christopher Nkunku not happy at Chelsea

Chelsea have been linked to a number of strikers in recent transfer windows with them still not seemingly all-in on Jackson before this season.

Christopher Nkunku is actually the club’s top scorer in all competitions this season, however there are no assurances he will be at the club for too much longer.

Nkunku is reportedly unhappy with his minutes at Chelsea, with him being forced to wait for cup competitions to come around before he is handed a start.

With just one appearance from the beginning in the Premier League, and that coming on the opening day of the season, it looks as if he is finding it very difficult to displace Jackson right now.
