There’s a fresh claim in the media this week that Chelsea’s first-team player is unhappy right now with his current situation at Stamford Bridge.
In general, Chelsea are a club moving in the right direction this season.
Enzo Maresca has made a really positive impact since taking charge as the Blues manager in the summer. As a result, the team sits third in the Premier League table going into Saturday’s trip to Leicester City.
There’s a feeling Maresca will have a long-term future at Chelsea, so let’s see if the team can keep up this momentum post-international break.

Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku isn’t happy
According to The Athletic, Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku isn’t best pleased right now.
A source close to the 27-year-old star has told The Athletic that he’s not too happy with how this season is going for him.
It is explained that the Frenchman hasn’t made any complaints to the club, so he’s not kicking up a fuss to Maresca. However, it sounds like he’s frustrated with his lack of game time.
Nkunku has played in 17 of Chelsea’s 18 matches across all competitions this season, which would suggest he’s a key player in the squad. It doesn’t paint the full picture that he’s only started once in the Premier League, though.
Nkunku is not planning to leave Chelsea in January despite all the talk in the media about his future.
He’s finding it an impossible task to dislodge Nicolas Jackson from the striker position in the league games, but he’s still contributing when he gets the chance. In fact, he’s got 10 goals across all competitions in his 17 appearances.
Manchester United have enquired about signing Nkunku, but the Blues shouldn’t consider selling him to a rival club.
Christopher Nkunku could hit top form in the next month
There’s still 11 games left for Chelsea to play across all competitions during the rest of 2024, so surely Maresca is going to be forced into plenty of rotation in the upcoming weeks. As a result, Nkunku must be ready to seize his chances on the pitch.
Nkunku has shown this season he’s the most clinical finisher at the club.
| Competition | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Premier League | 10 | 1 | 0 |
| Conference League | 3 | 4 | 1 |
| Conference League qualifiers | 2 | 2 | 0 |
| Carabao Cup | 2 | 3 |
For Nkunku, can his all-round game be as effective as his work in front of goal? It feels like he’ll be stuck behind Jackson in the pecking order until he becomes busier.
Owen Hargreaves called Chelsea striker Nkunku a “complete” player because of his technique and finishing, but he can still work on knitting the play together.
