Chelsea’s hopes at qualifying for next season’s Champions League took a big blow as they fell to an embarrassing draw against Ipswich Town.
The Blues were slow out the traps again in the Premier League, however this time were made to pay when Julio Enciso and Ben Johnson scored counter-attack goals in the first half.
Whatever Enzo Maresca said to his players at the break had an immediate impact, with Noni Madueke’s dangerous cross resulting in an own goal just 20 seconds after the restart.
A moment of real quality from Jadon Sancho brought the Blues level, however they were unable to convert their late momentum into a winner.

Chelsea fans unleash fury on Enzo Maresca during Ipswich draw
Supporters inside Stamford Bridge were unhappy with what they were seeing for much of the afternoon, particularly in the first half where Ipswich were under very little pressure for their two-goal lead.
Journalist Kieran Gill stated that many of those who were sitting in the stands were sending plenty of criticism towards their manager for what they were seeing.
He said: “Ipswich don’t have their top, second-top or third-top Premier League scorers on the pitch, but they lead 2-0. Enzo Maresca been taking some flak from Chelsea supporters around the press box.”
It is not the first time that those inside the stadium have made their feelings known on the side, and the way the manager has been asking his side to play.

Maresca’s wavering relationship with Chelsea fans
Chants were aimed at Maresca during last week’s 0-0 draw with Brentford, where his side were offering very little threat in front of goal.
It is incredible to think it was around four months ago Blues fans were serenading Maresca as another victory took them one step closer to the Premier League title race, with them now hanging on to a place in the Champions League places.
The Italian is likely to remain in the role going into next season, however will need to see his side improve greatly from where they are now if he is to be able to carry out his entire project at Stamford Bridge.
