On a very positive night for Chelsea, Blues supporters singled out Enzo Fernandez for huge praise after his performance in the 4-0 victory against Southampton.
Chelsea picked up a much-needed three league points on Tuesday night by winning in style at home to Southampton.
The Blues are up to fourth position in the Premier League after the success against Saints. Even though there were Chelsea fan protests before the Southampton match, the players did the business on the pitch.

Remarkably, there’s only four points separating Chelsea in fourth and Aston Villa in 10th. It looks like the race for Champions League qualification could go down to the wire this year.
Chelsea fans react to Enzo Fernandez’s performance against Southampton
A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media believe that Enzo Fernandez, 24, was superb for them in the Southampton victory.
The central midfielder, who captained the side in the absence of Reece James, dictated the play throughout. In fact, Blues fans on X believe he’s thriving under current head coach Enzo Maresca.
One fan wrote: “Remember when everyone said we need a manager that will suit Enzo Fernandez. Enzo Maresca has gotten everything right with him.”
“In this new role Maresca has done for him for the past two games, he looks like a top three midfielder in the Premier League,” another posted.
One supporter claimed: “Enzo Fernandez put in the best non-g/a performance I’ve seen in a long while. I love how Maresca allowed him drop deep during buildup.”
“Enzo Fernandez is the heartbeat of this Chelsea team. Without him, Enzo Maresca’s tactics will not actually work,” another said.
One fan added: “Enzo Fernandez is the heart of this team. Attack, defence, create chances, press resistant. Captain material.”
Fernandez didn’t score or assist in the team’s four-goal triumph over Southampton, but he was integral to plenty of their attacks with his creative influence.
Speaking back in January, Maresca highlighted Fernandez’s improvement this season under him. In recent times, we think the box-to-box midfielder has been one of the most consistent performers in the squad.
Enzo Fernandez dominates the statistics vs Southampton
Fernandez has played in 25 of Chelsea’s 27 Premier League matches so far this season, and he was impressive yet again on Tuesday evening.
As displayed by Squawka below, the Chelsea midfielder was at the heart of everything against Southampton, contributing both offensively and defensively.
Back in pre-season, Mario Melchiot insisted Fernandez had lots to prove going into this 2024/25 campaign as he tries to live up to his £106m price tag. In fairness, he’s ticking a lot of boxes with the way he’s performing in Maresca’s team.
His record of eight assists across all competitions this season would’ve risen this week if his teammates were in a more clinical mood against Southampton.
