Chelsea youngster Tyrique George completed 90 minutes on Thursday night during the Conference League win over Copenhagen, and fans on social media were making the same point after his performance.
The Blues beat Copenhagen 1-0 in the second leg to secure a 3-1 aggregate victory and progress to the quarter-finals of the Conference League.
Tyrique George, who’s a product of the Blues academy, was welcomed into the club’s first-team squad a few months ago. He’s started to earn a decent amount of minutes for Enzo Maresca’s side, including in midweek.
Recent claims suggested that George has impressed in Chelsea training since he started working with the senior group.
The 19-year-old winger put in an eye-catching display on Thursday as the Blues reached a European quarter-final.
| Minutes played | Goals | Assists | Total shots | Chances created | Accurate passes | Successful dribbles | Match rating |
| 90 | 0 | 0 | 2 | 2 | 22/28 (79%) | 4/7 (57%) | 7.1 |

Chelsea fans claim Tyrique George has overtaken Jadon Sancho
Chelsea supporters on social media applauded George after the attacker’s display at home to Copenhagen.
Many Blues fans agree that the English teenager may already be a better option than teammate Jadon Sancho.
One fan wrote: “Tyrique George is actually way better than current Sancho on the left.”
“Tyrique George is more productive than Sancho without a doubt,” another posted.
One supporter claimed: “MOTM: Tyrique George—fantastic display, showing why Enzo Maresca trusts him. Always looking to create, driving forward with confidence, and making things happen. Deserved a goal for his efforts. A big talent with huge potential, proving he belongs at this level.”
“Tyrique George should be starting league games. He’s so much better than Sancho,” another said.
“Tyrique George was our best attacker tonight. He’s only 19,” another shared.
Like George, Sancho also started in the Copenhagen victory and lined up on the opposite wing. The 24-year-old wide man wasn’t quite as effective before he was substituted off in the 65th minute.
| Minutes played | Goals | Assists | Total shots | Chances created | Accurate passes | Successful dribbles | Match rating |
| 65 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 16/18 (89%) | 4/8 (50%) | 6.9 |
Chelsea are concerned by Sancho’s form during his season-long loan with them, which is set to turn into a permanent deal in the summer.

Tyrique George vs Jadon Sancho
While George is a young prospect in the very infancy of his senior career, Sancho has so much experience under his belt.
Therefore, it’s a bit worrying that the fanbase already prefer the teenager over Sancho.
| Club | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Chelsea | 16 | 0 | 4 |
| Club | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Borussia Dortmund | 158 | 53 | 64 |
| Manchester United | 83 | 12 | 6 |
| Chelsea | 27 | 2 | 6 |
It’ll be fun to watch the development and growth of George moving forward. The fact that he’s appeared in six out of the previous seven Chelsea matches across all competitions proves that he’s fighting hard for minutes.
As for Sancho, we feel he’s underperforming for a player with his profile and general ability.
It’s going to be interesting to see who gets the nod to start on the wings when the Blues travel to Arsenal on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League.
