There’s plenty of transfer speculation flying around in January regarding Chelsea’s potential interest in signing Crystal Palace and England defender Marc Guehi.
The Chelsea squad is in a healthy place and developing well under Enzo Maresca’s management, but the Blues are still linked in the transfer rumour mill with possible new signings in the current window.
Marc Guehi, who previously came through the Chelsea academy, could be offered a route back to Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old centre-back was an exciting young talent when the Blues sold him to Palace in 2021, but he’s developed into one of the Premier League’s most consistent central defenders.
Chelsea are considering Guehi as a January option as they look across the transfer market. Also, Chelsea boss Maresca is a big admirer of Guehi amid interest in the Palace talisman.

Chelsea dreaming of Marc Guehi partnership with Levi Colwill
A selection of Chelsea supporters on social media are excited about the idea of bringing Guehi back to the club in 2025.
In particular, many Blues fans on X think that he could be the perfect option to partner Blues centre-back Levi Colwill in the heart of defence, so the pair should start together if a transfer happens.
One fan wrote: “I would be more than happy to go and sign Guehi. He’s a leader and he’s good with the ball at his feet. Could make a nice partnership with Colwill and he’s better than what we’ve got already.”
“I’m quite sentimental with sport, and I think having two academic graduates as Chelsea’s centre back pairing would be an incredible story. More importantly though, Guehi and Colwill are both top players,” another added.
One supporter posted: “I’m on my knees for this Marc Guehi x Levi Colwill partnership.”
“Brother the idea of Marc Guehi and Levi Colwill partnering together has sent shivers down my spine, it’s literally perfect, as per, literal perfection in every way possible,” another shared.
Guehi and Colwill have represented the England national team together in the past, so could they soon pair up in Chelsea colours?
At the age of 21, Colwill is already a big figure in the Blues defence and a commanding presence. It would be great to bring in a top-class recruit to partner him, though.
There could be a great blend of pace, strength, leadership and ball-playing qualities in a Colwill-Guehi partnership, but would it be enough to drive the side forward to silverware?
Guehi is one of seven centre-backs considered by Chelsea in the January window. On paper, he may be one of the most appealing targets as well.

The reasons for Chelsea signing Marc Guehi
First and foremost, Guehi should be able to enjoy a relatively smooth transition if he makes the short move from Palace back to his former club. He’ll already be familiar with the surroundings, plus he’s crossed paths with some of the individuals in the dressing room.
Furthermore, the Palace man has established himself as a real force in the Premier League across recent seasons, consistently delivering top performances against the best this division has to offer. He’s quick, strong and ticks every box as a modern defender.
We’re talking about an England starter at the recent Euro 2024 tournament with his prime years ahead of him, so it’s easy to see why the club may be tempted to splash the cash for him.
