Chelsea have a higher chance of signing £47m winger after Barcelona seem to end their interest

With the transfer window just a month away, it remains to be seen if the higher ups at Chelsea feel they can strengthen their squad midway through the season.

There were plenty of players brought in to make Enzo Maresca’s transition into Premier League management as seamless as possible.

While those who joined perhaps haven’t all had the impact they would have hoped to, the likes of Jadon Sancho and Pedro Neto have made themselves very important members of the first team squad already.

The depth the manager has at his disposal will allow them to set up for any opponent. Noni Madueke and Mykhailo Mudryk have certainly made an impact in the various competitions they have been handed starts in.

Barcelona out the race for Chelsea target Nico Williams

This has not stopped their reported interest in other players, and one individual they have held a long-term interest in is Nico Williams.

The Spaniard helped break the hearts of the likes of Cole Palmer in the European Championship final with a goal in the final, and a number of big sides were reported to be interested in him.

One of the main candidates were Barcelona, however according to The Athletic they seem to not be on the scene for signing him anymore, after the strong performances of Raphinha and Lamine Yamal out wide.

After a brilliant last season with Athletic Bilbao, Williams has struggled to make the same impact this season.

Chelsea will likely be very happy with their aforementioned options out wide, with even the likes of Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku able to fill in when needed.

If a new signing is going to come in, it is perhaps more likely to be at the back in the face of recent injuries to Wesley Fofana and Reece James, both players who have had their fair share of problems in the past.
