It looked as if Chelsea had confirmed a deal to bring a new striker to Stamford Bridge ahead of the upcoming season.
It was widely reported that the Blues had agreed a deal with Atletico Madrid to sign Samu Omorodion, with him being the final domino to fall in a number of deals.
This also included Conor Gallagher going the other way after he was essentially banished from the first team picture.
However, it was reported last night that Omorodion joining Chelsea had essentially collapsed at the final moment.
Journalist Marcos Benito has claimed that Chelsea are now looking to turn their attention to the signing of Victor Osimhen instead.

Chelsea want Victor Osimhen instead of Samu Omorodion
He said: “LAST MINUTE BOMB! Samu will have to return to Atlético de Madrid. His signing for Chelsea does not take place. The English team now has the priority objective of signing Oshimen.”
Osimhen has been a target for the club for a number of transfer windows now, with it looking impossible for him to stay at Napoli this summer.
However, it was reported earlier this summer that Enzo Maresca did not think he would be suitable for his system, and instead they looked elsewhere.
Osimhen’s talents are clear to see though. He has previously been described as ‘world-class’ by Jose Mourinho.
Napoli really want Romelu Lukaku
However, the possibility of signing him returned to the table when it became clear that new Napoli boss Antonio Conte was insistent on signing Romelu Lukaku this summer.
A number of different avenues have been reported as potential ways of bringing Osimhen in, with a potential loan suiting Chelsea but not any other parties.
It remains to be seen how the whole situation plays out, however any deal for Omorodion looks to have collapsed, with Chelsea looking like they will have just Marc Guiu and Nicolas Jackson available as natural strikers when the Premier League season gets underway next weekend.
The Spaniard has impressed greatly during pre-season, and would no doubt be unlucky to be loaned out for the upcoming campaign.
