Chelsea supporters have voiced their concerns about the direction of the club with Enzo Maresca in charge, however the board are not seeing things that way.
Stamford Bridge turned hostile towards Maresca after the defeat to Brighton at the weekend, where Chelsea made it back-to-back losses in the Premier League.
The boss will rightly point to the fact that he was tasked with managing those games without a full XI on the pitch, after Robert Sanchez and Trevoh Chalobah’s red cards.
It seems those in charge are not willing to make any rash decisions. As of now, there is complete backing of Maresca from the owners and the board.

Those in charge have actually been very pleased with what they have seen regarding the manager’s work with Reece James, who remains available for action as he has been for the majority of 2025.
Graeme Bailey has exclusively told The Chelsea Chronicle that the hierachy have taken note and been very impressed by how Maresca is once again getting the best out of James.
He said: “Look what he’s done with Reece James. At the start of this year, Reece James could not have been further away from England selection, or even thinking about a World Cup. less than what 10 months later so six months of football later he’s now back. He’ll be one of the first names on Tuchel’s team sheet.
“He is again being regarded as the best right-back in England and what I would say to that is let’s not underestimate what Maresca has done for him. I think l this Chelsea system. It doesn’t suit any player more than Reece James, and I think that passes people by.
“But it hasn’t passed the Chelsea hierarchy by that as we know as he’s not just picking Reece James. He hasn’t reinvented him but he’s getting even more from Reece James where he’s pushing to midfield can do other things. I think what Maresca has done for Reece James is remarkable.”

It has been a very difficult time in terms of fitness for the club captain over the last few years, and Chelsea have suffered from not having him as a result.
There is still a conscious effort made not to overdo things. He has frequently started on the bench this season, including in their most recent Champions League outing against Benfica.
However, for big games, such as the upcoming Premier League fixture with Liverpool, James is always present, and he will now be targeting a prolonged period of fitness that will guarantee him a starting spot at the upcoming World Cup.
